S'Mores Pop Tarts

Reminding you of those old-time summer classics, our S’Mores Pop Tarts are perfection! The recipe is full of smiles from your childhood. Be honest, have you ever tasted a s’more you didn’t like?

All the components of classic s’mores!

To make the S’Mores Pop Tarts, unroll the pie crusts, placing one crust on a prepared baking sheet. With a rolling pin, square the edges of the dough. Using a pizza cutter, divide the dough into 8 equal-sized rectangles or squares. 

Place 1-2 teaspoons of the chocolate chip mixture in the center of 4 rectangles, leaving a 1/8-inch edge. Set aside the remaining chocolate chip mixture to decorate the S’Mores Pop Tarts. Top each with another rectangle and use a fork to crimp together the dough pieces. Trim with the pizza cutter if necessary.  Repeat the steps with remaining pie dough.

Apply the egg mixture to the pop tarts using a pastry brush. With a wide spatula, place the Pop Tarts on the prepared baking sheets at least 2 inches apart. Place about 6-8 per sheet. Chill for 20 minutes. Bake the chilled pastries until golden brown, watching the last two minutes to avoid burning. Remove from the oven, transfer to a cooling rack with a wide spatula until the S’Mores Pop Tarts are cooled to room temperature. Reserve one prepared baking sheet for decorating.

The final touch on the S’Mores Pop Tarts!

For the frosting, combine the confectioners' sugar, salt, milk, and vanilla extract. Add more milk to reach desired consistency. Spread the frosting onto the cooled pop tarts, placing them back onto the prepared baking sheet to dry. Decorate the frosted S’Mores Pop Tarts with remaining chocolate chip mixture.

 You can make the S’Mores Pop Tarts anytime of year, you don’t need a campfire! If you happen to have any leftover, store in an airtight container for up to a week at room temperature.
