Chocolate Sprinkle Matzo

Chocolate Sprinkle Matzo

“Passover is my favorite holiday. When else is it mandatory to drink 4 glasses of wine!?” found on a greeting card. That’s pretty much true!

Most people on Passover at some point wind up with a 5lb. box of matzo (5 individual boxes in one large box). We always have about 4 boxes left over! This year, we decided to make lots of candy matzo.

Perfect for seders, hostess gifts, road trips or lunches on the go, our Chocolate Sprinkle Matzo celebrates the holiday putting to good use leftover unleavened flatbread. If you need a quick no bake treat, this sweet and crunchy, Passover treat is easy to make. The Chocolate Sprinkle Matzo can also be wrapped in treat bags for guests and eaten throughout the holiday.

The best part about the Chocolate Sprinkle Matzo is that it can be customized based on your taste and preference. It’s so fun to gather up all of the ingredients (I do this over a few weeks) and see what kind of Passover candy is available. Look for colorful sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, chopped nuts or dried fruit. The options are endless!

If you have dietary concerns, you can easily adjust this recipe for allergies, vegan or gluten free restrictions, just watch out for all of the labels.

To make the Chocolate Sprinkle Matzo, prepare a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Place 2 sheets of matzo on the prepared baking sheet.

Melt the chocolate (look for instructions below).  Carefully pour the melted chocolate in a zip top bag, cut the tip and slowly apply the chocolate in a zig zag pattern. Decorate the matzo with sprinkles. Repeat with other sheets of matzos.

Set on a cooling rack to fully dry, for 2-4 hours or overnight. Once cooled break into pieces.

The Chocolate Sprinkle Matzo is a quintessential make ahead treat. AND you can easily double the batch.  What host wouldn’t want to receive the Chocolate Sprinkle Matzo? Buy a large blue bowl or sealable snack container, fill it with the Chocolate Sprinkle Matzo and bring it along.
